Collaborative Project: The 40% Project

The project was successfully funded on July 30, but you can still Late Pledge for available rewards.

The 40% Project is a nationwide portrait initiative led by The Royal Photographic Society Women in Photography Group, bringing together women photographers from across the UK to create a photographic record of a unique moment in British history.

Following the 2024 General Election, women now make up around 40% of Members of Parliament — the highest level of representation in British parliamentary history. To record this milestone, women photographers came together to photograph the women shaping Parliament today.

To commemorate the project, Image & Reality are publishing the portraits as a photobook: 40% - inspiring women MPs photographed by women.

For my contribution, I had the pleasure of taking the portraits of Emily Darlington at The Milton Keynes Rose and Alison McGovern in Hamilton Square, Birkenhead.
