Selected Exhibition: Covid-19 and Beyond
Covid-19 & Beyond is a long awaited and necessary moment of reflection on the experience and ongoing impact of the pandemic.
Curated by @photojournalism_hub Cinzia Dambrosi, assisted by Ella Khalek this exhibition brings together photographers from London and across the world exploring the many different perspectives, realities and consequences of Covid-19.
I will be exhibiting selected images from my two lockdown projects. The first, Love is a Life Story, is a series of black and white photographs taken between 2020ā22, documenting the friendship between my father John (90) and his good friend and neighbour Mary (96), as they navigated the various, and often confused, Covid-19 lockdown regulations whilst living in a sheltered retirement community in Milton Keynes.
The second, Our Lockdown Garden, is a collection of stories and socially distanced portraits documenting the passage of time and changing seasons in the garden of the same community during the first year of the Covid-19 pandemic. The project was made in collaboration with residents, all aged in their 80s and 90s.
The pandemic did not affect everyone equally. It did expose and deepen existing social injustices and structural inequalities in London and globally. Iām looking forward to seeing the work brought together, as well as sharing and talking about our experiences.
The exhibition opens 12th March 6-8:30 pm -15th March at Sands End Arts and Community Centre.
