Exhibition Selection: Fix Photo Awards

Our Lockdown Garden was selected to be featured in the FIX Photo Awards 2020.

Due to the recent events globally, the exhibition that year was presented virtually. The theme was ‘FIX Still Life’, a theme which inadvertently became more relevant than could have possibly been imagined when it was conceived.

Our Lockdown Garden documents the residents of my father’s retirement home and the shared garden that became an important space for connection during the Covid lockdowns. With movement restricted and so much of normal life put on hold, the garden became a place where residents could still see one another, maintain some sense of routine and find moments of connection.

It was particularly lovely to see the project included in the FIX Photo Awards during such an extraordinary period, when photography itself was having to find new ways of being shared.

The FIX Photo Awards 2020 can be viewed on the awards page, with Our Lockdown Garden featured in Fix Gallery 4.
